We strongly believe in the valuable role that volunteers play in transforming the lives of our members. As little as 8 hours per month is all it takes to have a positive impact on a child’s life.
Boys and Girls Club of Marion County offers volunteer opportunities for adults to work directly with youth as mentors and tutors, and by providing career guidance, internships and college preparation support.

The Boys & Girls Club offers many volunteer programs where you will gain great experiences working with children and get a chance to make a difference in the Marion Community. There is a place for most everyone at the Club through many of our wonderful programs aiming to help the Boys & Girls Club of Marion County to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Come share your talents, kindness, and knowledge.
The following are some of our current volunteer opportunities.
Homework Help Volunteer – Available any day Monday thru Thursday between the hours of 4:30 and 5:30pm. We are looking for volunteers who can mentor our members aged Kindergarten to High School in various subjects. The children benefit from the one to one attention in reading and completing homework. Volunteers are paired with a student to provide consistent mentoring or offer sporadic assistance.
Mentor – Mentors wear several hats and can assist the Club in a variety of programs. Mentors are assigned to activities that require the most need upon their arrival. Activities can include homework help, computer lab or a recreational assistant.
Harding Jr. Intern Program – This program aims to help Harding High School students gain life skills, learn the importance of volunteerism, obtain a positive volunteering experience, and fulfill a high school requirement at the same time.
Special Events Volunteer – Do you love volunteering, but are unable to commit to a regular schedule? Periodically the Boys & Girls Club will host special events in which we need one time volunteers. Complete the Mentor Application to be on the email list for our special event opportunities.
Group Volunteering – We have opportunities for groups such as corporations, churches or even universities. Opportunities could be created for a specific date or desired project. Beautification projects are great projects for corporations and include projects for volunteers such as mural painting, flower planting and outdoor clean-ups.
