The summer of fun and learning at the Boys & Girls Club of Marion County runs June 1 – August 11, 2017, from 7:30am to 5:30pm each day. One huge benefit to being a BGC member is Summer Brain Gain, a nationally recognized program to help eliminate summer learning loss.
Members will also participate in tons of fun summer activities, including trips to the park, swimming at the Aquatic Center, art, music, and more. We provide breakfast, lunch, and a snack each day of the program.
Cost for our summer program is based on income and runs from a high of $75 per week per member down to $0 for our families most in need.
Please note that our program is closed during the week of July 4.
Summer Brain Gain
Even though school is out for summer, the learning will continue for Club members. Through a fun and educational Summer Brain Gain program, we aim to prevent summer learning loss and help kids stay on track for school in the fall.
Boys & Girls Clubs of America has found that more than half of the achievement gap between lower-and higher-income youth can be explained by unequal access to summer learning opportunities. Summer Brain Gain aims to close that gap.
Summer Brain Gain is comprised of one-week modules with fun, themed learning activities for members. Each module takes a project-based learning approach: youth engage in a process of learning through discovery, creative expression, group work and a final project or production.
